Small and Peaceful in the Heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park

Staying at Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park opens up a plethora of activities and things to do. Your stay with us will be an absolute delight as there are so many Places of Interest in and around Brecon.

We have many attractions on the doorstep which you may not be aware of. Spending a weekend exploring will have you hooked and we hope you will agree that its worth a longer visit!

As well the many great attractions nearby, each year the area is host to popular festivals and shows, such as the Brecon County Show,
Brecon Jazz Weekend, Hay Festival, Green Man Festival, Royal Welsh Show, and lots more to see and do!

Cantref Adventure Farm

At Cantref we offer a fun filled day for the entire family! We have a large heated indoor play zone, a farm, house café with delicious home cooked meals with spectacular views. We have animal shows scheduled throughout the day from pet handling to ferret racing! We also have outdoor attractions like our Super Sledge Ride, Swamp Adventure, New Miniature Section & Pony Rides available to keep you all entertained on your fun family day out in the Brecon Beacons.

Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal

The towpath is ideal for a more leisurely walk, with its well maintained towpath. It passes through Pencelli Village and borders The Meadow (tent field) but the towpath is on the far bank so access for walking is via the village (100 yards). Walk to Talybont on Usk (two miles) - three pubs on the canal side, and paths branching off. One follows the historic Brinoer Tramroad, leading to Talybont Reservoir. The other direction leads to Brecon (5 miles) and terminates by Theatre Brycheiniog (Brecon Theatre).   Brecon is a quaint market town with many unique features, shops, museums and cathedral. Too far to walk back? Take a taxi or the Brecon to Abergavenny service bus will drop you at our entrance if you ask the driver kindly.

Brecon Mountain Railway

The line runs from Pant, near Merthyr Tydfil. Travel in one of our all-weather Observation Carriages, behind a vintage steam locomotive, into the Brecon Beacons National Park to see stunning views of the peaks of the Beacons across the Taf Fechan reservoir.

Our National Park is the best ever playground. There are masses of things for active families to do. Of course, there’s no need to pack every day with expensive activities – simple things like picnics and Pooh sticks can be just as much fun. In fact, many of our favourite ideas are absolutely free.

National Showcave Centre of Wales

First discovered in 1912, and opened to the public in 1939, there are now 3 Show Caves, a Dinosaur Park, replica Iron-Age Village, Shire Horse centre and Stone Circles to explore.

Penderyn Distillery

We’re located in the perfect spot in the old village of Penderyn, nestled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, and there we have created the best little distillery in Wales. And the smoothest wysgi on earth.

Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary

We are located in the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park area of South Wales.

Formerly a traditional Welsh hill farm, the sanctuary now rescues and provides a home for many types of unwanted animals. especially primates, such as chimpanzees, baboons, spider monkeys, capuchins and marmosets.

Visitors are welcome to see the animals and the work we do.

Brecon Cathedral

The purpose of this magnificent Cathedral Church of St John the Evangelist is to worship God. We pray here every day, following the pattern of St Benedict.

The Cathedral welcomes everyone who passes through, if you are visiting as a tourist, come to offer your personal prayers and light a candle, or interested in history, architecture or stained glass windows. There are many things to see and learn about.

Brecknock Museum

Brecon is a typical Welsh market town.  It has had it's share of happiness, sadness, characters and folklore, and the museum portrays all these in a well presented way.

Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery occupies an historical Grade 2* listed building, the old Shire Hall, at the heart of the town of Brecon. One of the finest small museums in Wales, it was first established in 1928 by the Brecknock Society.

Theatr Bryncheiniog

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon’s Centre for the Arts opened in April 1997, as the first wholly funded Lottery new build arts organisation in the UK. The Arts Centre is probably situated in one of the most picturesque locations of any venue in the UK. Built alongside the canal basin in the heart of Brecon, serving the town and surrounding areas of Powys, Monmouthshire and beyond, it is rooted firmly in the community it serves. The venue currently provides a varied programme of theatre, dance, music and entertainment in its purpose built 477 seat auditorium and 120-seat studio/rehearsal space. It also hosts an exhibition programme in the Gallery.

The Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh (Brecon)

The Royal Welsh is Wales's infantry regiment. It has inherited a distinguished military tradition from its predecessors: The Royal Welch Fusiliers (23rd Foot) and The Royal Regiment of Wales (formerly the 24th, 41st and 69th Foot - and later the South Wales Borderers, Welch Regiment and Monmouthshire Regiment). Although, in some respects, the story only began on 1st March 2006 when The Royal Welsh was formed, its history reaches back to the year 1689 when the 23rd and 24th Regiments of Foot were first raised.

Brecon Town

Brecon, or Aberhonddu as it is known in Welsh is an historic market town in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Ancient Britons, Romans and Normans have each left their mark on Brecon. Brecon boasts a cathedral, theatre, cinema, castle ruins, and a range of restaurants and shops.

Dragon Fly Cruises

Travel on this historical waterway, a fantastic feat of engineering, built before roads and railways. Cruise through a canal lock and over an aqueduct carry the canal over the River Usk,
